14 day challenge

I’ve just completed a 14 day virtual challenge with my client’s, Nicole and Amy and I’m over the moon to hear such wonderful feedback…

“I read somewhere that our ability to distract ourselves from our mortality was difficult during Covid, and that we all suffered from some form of existential anxiety.  It goes without saying that I did what a lot of people did: ate too much, drank a lot, and sat on my butt binge watching Netflix series.  I knew I was gaining weight but with the stress of keeping my family safe during Covid, I had bigger things to worry about.    

Now that the world is getting back to a new normal, and I refuse to buy any more “fat clothes”, I have decided it’s time to focus on my body and fit into the clothes in my closet.  

The thought of heavy breathers in a small room has deterred me from taking my beloved spinning classes. I would love to be the person who can work out alone but find it near impossible to motivate.  I needed help and a buddy to get myself back on track.    

I pitched the idea of a 14 day virtual challenge to my cousin, who had spent the pandemic trying to keep her four children physically and mentally healthy, and wanted to refocus on her health.  

Our goal was to refrain from drinking alcohol (we’d had enough since March 2020), get ideas for healthy meals, and incorporate new workout routines in our daily lives.  

We enlisted the help of sports nutritionist, Michelle Newitt.  Michelle designed an easy to follow program with daily meal and exercise plans, including multiple daily check-ins to keep us focussed.   

We communicated through a WhatsApp group (we’re not on Facebook).  Michelle posted our first meal and exercise plan the night before we kicked off. She asked us to post photos of each meal, provide feedback on energy levels, and keep a food diary.  By posting photos of our meals we became accountable not only to Michelle, but to each other and ultimately, ourselves.  

Heading into week two, Michelle suggested we choose an outfit we’d like to wear,  post a photo, and hang that outfit on the closet door as motivation.  We took it one step further and posted photos of our ourselves when we were feeling good about our bodies.  

The “14 Day Virtual Buddy Challenge” has been a game changer!  Not only have we lost inches and kilograms, but we are motivated to continue the plan and reach our ultimate goals.  With easy to follow meal and exercise plans, we are well equipped to to complete our transformation.  Thanks Michelle!”
